The Benefits of SEO

Last week we published an article mentioning the real meaning of SEO, I just wanted to answer the question: what is SEO? With that information in mind, I would like to mention another important thing of SEO, it's benefits.

A high ranking in a search engine has become a business necessity. When you reach high rankings, business have increased the following characteristics:

User behavior studies have showed time and time again that a higher position in a search engine most of the times translates into more traffic to the website. Let's analyze the following picture:

The picture above is the result of an eye-tracking studiy to evaluate the effectiveness of Google's search results. This is known as the "Golden Triangle". Google has confirmed the obvious: that the first few results it returns are indeed usually the most relevant to users. This also suggests that people spend a lot more time evaluating the whole results at the top of the page than the ones further down.

Another important benefit from SEO is that your website will get relevant traffic. What this means is that most of the time, your website will be optimized only for relevant keywords. For example, lets say that you own a website that rents limos in Miami, one keyword you would like to be ranking for is "Miami Limo". If you are ranking in the top positions, not only you are going to get most of the clicks, but you are also going to receive visitors who have a high probability to convert into clients, as they arrived to your website searching for a very specific product.
